- I have an A3000 with the following setup:
-
- 52Mb internal SCSI id 0
- 340Mb internal SCSI id 6 end of internal chain
-
- 40Mb external SCSI id 3
- Tape SCSI id 4
- 40Mb external SCSI id 1
- CDROM SCSI id 2 end of external chain
-
- NOTE: None of the termination resistor packs have been removed.
- All the devices seem to work properly
-
- 1)I was under the impression that SCSI buses required the all the termination
- resistor packs be removed except the last one in the chain. Is this required
- or is it just a recommendation? What are the issues of not removing them?
-
- 2)My machine has a separate power supply for the external devices. Without all
- devices being powered up the machine will not boot. However with the tape
- drive and one SCSI harddrive connected my machine can boot without these
- devices being powered up. The same holds true for the CDROM and one harddrive.
- What might be causing this anomaly? Is there a way to get it so my machine
- can boot regardless of whether the external devices are powered up or not?
